Oliver Rabara

Dr. Oliver Rabara is a Filipino-Canadian fine artist, educator, and cultural worker whose three-decade career bridges creativity, heritage, and community development. His work appears in galleries and festivals across the Philippines and Canada, alongside leadership roles in Camp ArtTuro and AURAA. He writes for the Alberta Filipino Journal and continues to champion the belief that art is most powerful when shared with people and used to build communities.

Keith Turnbull

Keith Turnbull is an Edmonton-based sculptor who works primarily with clay and cement. After a long career in public library and cultural administration, he now focuses on his artistic practice, specializing in figurative sculpture of both people and animals.

His work often features fantasy themes, with subjects including rabbits, pigs, monkeys, and foxes. Turnbull has participated in public art projects and numerous group exhibitions, including shows with the Sculptors' Association of Alberta and Harcourt House Artist Run Centre. He is an active member of the local arts community and also holds an annual show and sale at his home studio. Turnbull's education in sculpture has been largely self-directed through various classes and workshops in Edmonton.

Carrie's Craft's and Toys

I am an artist who does ceramics. My ceramics are 3D sculptures, with the odd plates and bowls. They are beautiful sculptures often featuring human or animal figures, and I use a lot of flowers in my work. I also use a lot of colour. I like to use ceramics because it is soft on my hands, and it makes me feel good. I feel like I can get the piece to look realistic and how I want it to look out in the world. I like making things that will last a thousand years, and will never break. Many of my sculptures of people are nude, and I like sculpting them that way, although I don’t know why. I enjoy looking at flowers, so I like to put flowers in my work. I’m always happy making sculptures, and I like to make people happy too.

Growing up in the Alberta prairies and BC wilderness I have spent most of my life foraging and playing around with herbs. In the last few years I have used herbs and the earth to heal some deep wounds in my life, which has inspired me to deepen my knowledge and share it with others.

We’re also passionate about building a community of moms who embrace guilt-free motherhood, child-led learning, and the joy of reusing and repurposing.

Oliver Rabara

Oliver Rabara is a hybrid artographer in the fine arts, cultural research, and development administration. His 30+ years of professional practice allowed him to work with various artists, institutions, and governments. Oliver currently writes in two Edmonton newspapers about business and the role of art in development. In this exhibit, his “Novo Cubism” twists Picasso’s traditions by composing in layers and displaying a breadth of coloring techniques from transparent, translucent, and opaque. His works are generally poetic and philosophical relative to abstract socio-realism.  Being a member of The Palette Club, he hopes to attract art agents, co-artists, and potential sponsors for collaborative projects in the future.
