Piano Under the Sun

Zack grew up in Sherwood Park, playing (and practicing!) piano since the age of 5. Classically trained in Royal Conservatory, he often participated in the Sherwood Park music festivals and was an active leader in his high school band program. Currently, he is studying music composition under Allan Gilliland at Macewan University and enjoys listening to a wide variety of genres from jazz and classical all the way to alternative and kawaii future bass. When he’s not at school, he freelances in Edmonton as a composer, arranger, and performer, as well as teaching at Sherwood Park Music.

Zach Lim a grandi dans Sherwood Park, là où il joue (et pratique !) le piano depuis l’âge de 5 ans. Ayant reçu une éducation classique du Conservatoire Royal, il a souvent pris part aux festivals musicaux de son quartier. Il a également fait parti du groupe de musique de son école secondaire. Présentement, il étudie la composition musicale sous la direction d’Allan Gilliland à l’Université MacEwan. Ses goûts musicaux sont variés, allant du jazz et du classique à la musique alternative et au Kawaii Futur Bass. Lorsqu’il n’est pas à l’école, Zack est un compositeur et un artiste indépendant, enseignant également à l’école de musique Sherwood Park.

Good Nature is a rising indie-rock band in the Edmonton music scene.

After 3 years of honing their sound by jamming and playing house shows, the five members who all met through mutual connections, utilized MacEwan University’s studio to record their debut EP ‘Waves’, in 2016. The reception to the album was an unexpected success, selling out The Mercury Room for their EP release party and selling over one hundred CDs on the first day.

Prior to releasing their EP, their single and title track ‘Waves’ received recognition across Canada as it was placed as one of the top 10 regional finalists in CBC’s Searchlight Contest.

Since their CD release, they have gone on to perform at many of Edmonton’s bigger venues and Festivals. In September 2016, Good Nature was chosen as one of the 4 finalists of MacEwan University’s Showcase Competition which got them a slot at the University’s Fall Festival, opening for bigger acts such as Tyler Shaw and The Zolas.

Good Nature est un groupe émergent de la scène indépendante rock d’Edmonton. Après trois ans passés à perfectionner leur son en jouant dans des sous-sols, les cinq membres du groupe, qui se sont rencontrés grâce à des amis communs, se sont servis des studios de l’Université MacEwan pour enregistrer leur premier EP Waves en 2016. Avant la sortie de leur EP, le simple et la pièce titre « Waves » a été reconnu à travers le Canada, se classant parmi le top 10 régional au concours CBC Searchlight. Depuis la sortie de son album, le groupe a performé dans les plus grandes salles d’Edmonton de même qu’à divers festivals. En septembre 2016, Good Nature a été sélectionné pour être l’un des quatre finalistes du concours de démonstration de l’Université MacEwan, ce qui lui a permis de participer au Festival d’automne de l’université, partageant la scène avec, entre autres, Tyler Shaw et The Zolas.

We are GDS (Grace Dance Studio), a team of fun professional dance instructors and administrative staff being passionate about what we do. DANCE.

Formed in 2009 by Grace Wang, GDS has constantly grown for a reason. Grace has always believed that a positive environment builds a child’s and adult's self-esteem no matter how old you are or what you do; our goal is to put the fun back into dance.

Till now, we have been performing at West Edmonton Mall and University of Alberta for Chinese New Year celebration, Heritage Festival, Londonderry Mall and more.

Le Grace Dance Studio (GDS) regroupe une équipe de professeurs de danse professionnelle et dynamique ainsi qu’une équipe administrative passionnée par ce qu’ils font. Danser.

Formé en 2009 par Grace Wang, GDS n’a cessé de grandir au fil du temps. Grace a toujours cru en un environnement positif dans lequel les enfants autant que les adultes peuvent développer leur estime de soi, qu’importe qui ils sont ou ce qu’ils font. Le but ultime est que tous aient du plaisir à danser.

Jusqu’à présent, ils ont fait des prestations au West Edmonton Mall ainsi qu’à l’Université d’Alberta pour les célébrations du Nouvel An chinois, de même qu’au Heritage Festival, au Londonderry Mall, entre autres.

I Am The Mountain plays campfire soul music, and is currently based in Calgary, AB. Carefully woven throughout our songs are emotion and atmosphere. "We feel the music, and want people to experience our songs in the way that they feel is fitting. La musique folk d’I Am The Mountain est de celle que l’on joue autour d’un feu de camp. À travers leurs chansons, le groupe parvient à véhiculer des émotions tout en créant une atmosphère pour chacune de leurs pièces. « Nous ressentons la musique et voulons que les gens qui écoutent nos chansons les vivent d’une façon qui leur est propre, que ce soit en parlant avec un ami, en dansant de façon incontrôlable, en buvant un Old Fashioned, ou encore en étant étendu sur leur lit, se concentrant sur chaque syllabe et chaque note. » L’EP « We’re Here For Each Other » est disponible dès maintenant.

Jeremiah McDade is a Juno Award winning saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger.

Jeremiah graduated with high distinction from McGill University’s Jazz Performance program and received a distinguished alumni award from MacEwan University. He frequently tours throughout North America and Europe with his group, The McDades, as well as collaborating and recording with many different artists. As a side man, Jeremiah has performed on five Juno- nominated recordings, amongst dozens of others, as well as performing on multiple film scores

Jeremiah was featured soloist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2012, 2014 and 2016 and he performs regularly with big bands in Alberta including the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra and the Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble.

Jeremiah teaches saxophone, violin, and wind instruments from around the world privately and as a sessional instructor at MacEwan University.

Jeremiah a gradué du programme de Jazz de l’université McGill avec grande distinction et a reçu un prix honorant les anciens élèves émérites de l’Université MacEwan. Il se produit fréquemment à travers l’Amérique du Nord et l’Europe avec son groupe, The McDades. De plus, Jeremiah a participé à l’enregistrement de plusieurs albums, dont cinq se retrouvant en nomination aux Junos Awards, ces cinq albums. Il a également pris part à l’enregistrement de plusieurs trames sonores de films.  Jeremiah était le soliste de l’Orchestre Symphonique d’Edmonton en 2012, 2014, et 2016. Il performe régulièrement avec de grands orchestres en Alberta, incluant l’Orchestre Jazz d’Edmonton et l’Ensemble d’Arts créatifs de Calgary.

Les Tsunami Brothers sont le seul surf orchestre authentique d’Edmonton. Surf? Quoi? Vous vous souvenez de la chanson Wipeout? Sans doute vous en souviendrez-vous lorsqu’ils la joueront pour vous. Du plaisir en famille et des chansons entraînantes, c’est ce que les Tsunami Brothers vous promettent.  Le groupe est composé de Mikey “Glue Stix” Tsunami, Billy “Surfer Boy” Tsunami, Kenny “Pretty Boy” Tsunami et Johnny “Dreamboat” Tsunami. Et finalement, il y a la Tsunami Sister, Chantel “Wowie Zowie!” Tsunami.Ensemble, ils forment les Tsunami Brothers.

Sticks and Stone is a percussion trio centered on a “marimba band” concept.  The marimba AKA “Grande Piano of Xylophones” is an instrument of North-West African origins, that made its way to Latin America with the slave trade.  In the early 20th century, the marimba began to be incorporated into Western music.  Sticks and Stone explores a wide variety of music including pop, rock, video-game, world, classical, ragtime, and jazz. They enjoy performing for an eclectic audience at a diverse range of fun events.

Sticks and Stone est un trio de percussions centré sur le concept d’un groupe marimba. Le marimba, affectueusement surnommé « le piano à queue des xylophones », est un instrument d’origine nord-africaine qui a fait son chemin jusqu’en Amérique latine suite au transport d’esclaves. Au début du 20e siècle, le marimba a commencé à être incorporé à la musique occidentale. Sticks and Stone explore une variété de musique incluant le pop, le rock, la musique de jeux vidéo, la musique du monde, le classique, le ragtime et le jazz.
