Volunteer Registration

NOTE: If you have volunteered with either Kaleido, The Carrot Coffeehouse, or Deep Freeze, you have been added to our Better Impact system. Do not register for a new account. Use the “Forgot your username or password?” link if you don’t know your login information.

Crew Descriptions

Artisan Market Crew
Maintain market area and support the artisans and vendors in our Artisan Market.

Audio & Tech Crew
Set up and transport audio equipment to and from stages. Must be able to lift 20lb and follow direction from technicians.

AOTA Food Truck Crew
Cashier, expo and runner positions supporting the sale of snacks and beverages from concession food truck.

Food Truck Crew
Support food trucks located on the festival grounds and oversee the needs of the food truck operators as needed.

Balloon Crew
Inflate and tie balloons, lots and lots of balloons! This position requires people with good hand strength and good stamina. Lots of repetition, using noisy balloon inflator.

Bartenders Crew
Serving in our beer gardens and helping keep the area clean and to code. ProServe required.

The Carrot Crew
Serve food and coffee in The Carrot Coffeehouse to the public. Must be a trained barista or active Carrot barista for this position.

Carpentry Crew
Assist with finishing of stage structures. Duties include sanding and painting. Recommended to wear clothes that can get paint on them and gloves for handling unfinished wood. Requires lifting and repetitive movements. Minimal wood finishing/painting experience an asset, but not required.

Contingency Crew
Be on-call during the before, during or after the festival, ready to help out with any crew, if needed.

Cover-Off Crew
Experience multiple crews as you step in and cover-off your fellow volunteers for breaks.

Driving Crew (big rig)
Assist with moving stages and other large festival sets, may be needed prior to festival and post festival. Class 1 driver's license and access to a big rig truck are required.

Family Fun Zone Crew
Supervise kids doing various outdoor activities and events.

Fire Crew
Set up fire pits, start and monitor fires, load and haul wood, fire extinguishers and kindling tools to fire pits. Ensure safety of the area surrounding the fires.

Fundraising Crew - 50/50 Raffle
Engage with festival attendees and encourage them to participate in the 50/50 ticket sales. Clearly explain the details of the 50/50 raffle and handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly.

Fundraising Crew - Donation Tubes
Supervise the donation tubes; located around the festival grounds, both indoors and outdoors. Engage with patrons for donations.

Gallery Crew
Supervise the gallery and welcome guests.

Green Team Crew
Help keep the festival ground beautiful and tidy, both indoors and out.

Info & Merch Crew
The face of our festival in engagement with the public. Helping patrons find amenities, handing out programs, and selling Kaleido merchandise. Cash handling experience is an asset.

Indoor Family Workshops Crew
Facilitate the different workshops for families, working with the workshop hosts and providing a fantastic atmosphere for all.

Installation Crew
Explain the installation and how it works to the public. Assist with various tasks specific to the installation you are overseeing.

Jazz Alley Crew
Help with set-up and take down of Jazz Alley.

Kaleido After Dark Crew
Usher guests to their seats and provide stage management support.

Kitchen Crew
Help prepare all the meals for our volunteers and patrons.

Lantern Crew
Help prepare and set up the lanterns for the Friday night Aurora Lantern Parade.

Main Stage Crew
Assist with set up and maintaining the main stage area.

Pancake Breakfast Crew (Saturday Morning Only)
Assist with preparing the pancake breakfast on Saturday September 17th. Working outside required.

Performer Lounge Crew
Host the lounge, tend to performer needs, and ensure a secure environment. Sunday night shift will help tear down the performer lounge. Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

Pre & Post Festival Crew
Help with tasks needed before the festival, including hanging posters, setting up festival grounds, volunteer support and anything else we might need.

Puppet Crew
Maintain the puppets and area, including set-up and puppet assembly.

Security Crew
Ensure the safety of the festival grounds. Patrolling roadblocks, and securing the stages and beer gardens. Must be 18 years of age or older.

Signage Crew
Assist with putting up signage and sponsorship banners around festival grounds.

Site Crew
Prepare, set-up and take down of the festival grounds. Must be able to lift 20lbs and to work outside.

Stage Management Crew
Assist sound technician with stage set up and strike for each performing group, greet each band, introduce the band to sound technician and assist with any equipment set up. Facilitate any prop, stools, or stands on and off stage as needed throughout the performance.

Street Fun Crew
Engage with patrons to participate in some of the street performances and activities.

Tawakin Village Crew
Assist with hosting and welcoming guests.

Theatre Crew
Promote street shows, ushering audiences, and facilitating donation tubes at the outdoor shows.

Tim Horton's Runners (Volunteer Support)
Pick-up coffee, hot chocolate, donuts and muffins from Tim Horton's and deliver to the Volunteer Lounge. Must have a SUV or van to transport items.

Ukrainian Village
Help vendors, performers, and presenters with navigating the festival. Assistance with set up, tear down and hosting as well.

Volunteer Check-In Crew
Check-in volunteers as they arrive for their shifts, as well as leading volunteers to their volunteer areas as needed. Computer use is required; knowledge of the Better Impact program is an asset.

Volunteer Lounge Crew

Help serve food, wipe down tables, and create a relaxing place for volunteers to unwind after a shift.

Volunteer Support Crew
Keep the volunteer lounge stocked and roam the festival grounds to support volunteers as needed.
