The Ukeclectics

Saturday & Sunday 2:00 pm – 2:45 pm | The Carrot Outdoor Living Room (94 St - Southside of 118 Ave)

The Ukeclectics started as particles from an asteroid on an unstable orbit around Earth's sun, grew strong feeding on non-corporate radio waves, and found themselves somehow each holding some kind of ukulele. Bound together by the ancient laws of egregious taste, the Ukeclectics bring you deep cuts from decades past and present, with the only requirement being fun. If you can say it, you can spell it, and if you can't you can still come and hear some music.

Read Fenton and his Happy Hep Cats are a Swing Dance Band from Edmonton AB that specialize in music from the 20s and 30s. They are an energetic and fun band started by dancers who wanted to get into the music that they love. The idea for Read Fenton and his Happy Hep Cats was formed in August 2012 when on a whim Read made a Facebook event to look into the interest of forming a band from members of the swing dance community. 13 people showed up at his small townhouse and it was decided the band would officially form. We have an extencive catalog of Swing Jazz and Dixieland tunes and regularly play at festivals and dance events all over Alberta! Follow the band at https://www.facebook.com/ReadAndHisHappyHepCats/

The White Cats

Saturday 6:00 pm – 6:45 pm | The Carrot Outdoor Living Room (94 St - Southside of 118 Ave)

The White Cats Jazz Trio has been part of Edmonton's jazz scene for twenty-five years and more performing the great standard jazz hits of the 50's and 60's. The trio consists of Don Ehret, guitar, part of the Alberta College Conservatory Faculty; a player who has shared the stage with the famous in a wide scope of venues and styles. The same can be said of Greg Dust on bass. Also known as an accomplished trombonist, Greg's musical language is truly both broad and in scope, deep. Like Don, he is a real virtuoso. Bill Damur, on flute represents possibly the only flute performer in town steeped in classics, jazz, rock, and historic practices. His knowledge is based on a broad, and musically encompassing palette. The trio in its present form can be said to be a pop-up, street, guerrilla group as comfortable on stage as they are strolling along the ""Ave"" as part of the Kaleido street party, a favourite venue for the band.
