Alicia Proudfoot

Alicia Proudfoot is a harpist based in Edmonton with a BFA from the University of Alberta and an MFA from NSCAD University. She has been playing lever harp for 10 years and teaches the instrument in the city. She is drawn to music that layers of polyphonic sound by experimenting with loopers and imbedding small speakers inside her harp. Rhythm is her main interest as she deftly plays run after run, improvising when she can. Alicia’s main profession is as an international artist and she has been including harp into her visual art, often augmenting its appearance for certain performances like giving it rocking horse legs.

Jyn-Ting Ying

Jyn-Ting Ying (they/them) is an arranger, composer, educator, and pianist from Amiskwaciwâskahikan or what is now known as Edmonton, Alberta. They were initially trained in classical music before switching gears to attend MacEwan University’s jazz and contemporary music program in 2016. In April 2022, Jyn-Ting earned their Bachelor of Music with Distinction as a Composition Major. As a performer, Jyn-Ting has taken the stage with multiple different organisations. Between 2015-2021, they sang with Korora Choirs Association and had many opportunities to perform at the Winspear Centre with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Jyn-Ting is the accompanist at Sorry Not Sorry Improv, a theatre company that frequently hosts shows at the Grindstone Theatre and the annual Edmonton Fringe Festival. They are also the pianist in All4Jazz, a local jazz trio who occasionally does public shows, but mostly provides easy listening background music for private events. As a solo artist, Jyn-Ting released their single, a solo piano feature named “Where We Danced Still Dances Without You”, in May 2023 on Spotify and other similar streaming platforms. They have plans to continue releasing solo piano singles, and a full album release some time in the future. As an educator, Jyn-Ting has been teaching private piano lessons for over 5 years where they have had the privilege of teaching a diverse base of students.
