Travis Matthews started playing music at 7 years old under the guidance of a very accomplished musical family. Now, at the age of 23, he is making his mark in the flourishing Edmonton music scene. His performances are delivered with grace and ease that are incomparable for his age – the signs of a true natural. Hosting open stages at The Dirtbag Cafe and possessing an eclectic catalogue of performance material, he is capable of playing a variety of venues from house concerts to festivals and beyond. His music has been likened to City and Color and Jack Johnson, while his voice to Ray Lamontagne, John Mayer, and Brett Dennen. Travis finds joy and inspiration in all genres of music, whether it’s old jazz classics, Walt Disney theme songs or something from the top 40. He has released two singles, “Sarah” and “So Long Friends”, that feature legendary slide guitar player Greg Leisz (John Mayer, Ray Lamontagne) and bass player Hutch Hutchinson (Bonnie Raitt, Willie Nelson). His incredible talent has granted him the privilege of performing at the Edmonton Folk Festival, Canmore Folk Music Festival, Pigeon Lake Festival, and Wild Oats and Notes Festival.His pure falsetto, powerful voice and honest lyrics allow him to tap into raw emotion. His songs are melodious, memorable and filled with wisdom beyond his years; and his lovable character is so captivating, you won’t soon forget Travis Matthews.
