21 year old Rebecca Lappa is a Canadian Folk Music Awards and Edmonton Music Awards winner from Edmonton. Her latest EP, “Spirit” features Valiant of Vimy that won the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta’s Spirit of Vimy contest & was nominated for Edmonton Music Award. In 2018, she played 42 shows across Canada, attended Canada’s Music Incubator in Toronto & showcased at COCA in Fredericton. She reached Top 100 in CBC’s 2018 Searchlight, received an Honourable Mention in Canadian Songwriting Competition, & won Calgary’s Ship and Anchor Songwriting Contest. She’s performed at Edmonton’s Folkfest twice & will showcase at Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta in October.

Âgée de 21 ans, Rebecca Lappa est récipiendaire d’un Canadian Folk Music Award et d’un Edmonton Music Award. Paula Kirman

Paula Eve Kirman is an award-winning activist and musicians writes and performs music with a message. Whether singing about life, love, social issues, or spirituality, she focuses on the passion behind the words. Many of Paula's songs deal with social justice, in no small part due to her active involvement in the peace movement and a variety of other causes such as poverty and the environment. She performs regularly at festivals and events that promote social justice. One of her songs, “Summer,” tells the story of a homeless woman and” was a finalist in the 2017 International Songwriting Competition, out of 16,000 entries world-wide. In May of 2018, she received the Award of Merit for Advocacy of Social Justice from the Edmonton Social Planning Council as well as a Muse Award from Edmonton Muse Magazine. In December of 2016, she received the Human Rights Champion Award from the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights for being a pioneering media artist and community organizer.

Katrina Ying is a pianist, arranger, composer, and educator with 15 years of musical experience. With her diverse skills in the classical, pop, and jazz genres, Katrina has found great success showcasing her original compositions at venues around the city. When she’s not playing shows, Katrina can be found accompanying soloists for exams and auditions, or singing as a member of the Kokopelli choir association.

Katrina is currently attending MacEwan University and is working towards a Bachelor’s in Music as a composition major. After receiving a bachelor’s degree, Katrina plans to continue her education in pursuit of a masters in music.

Katrina teaches private lessons at Resonate Music School & Studio and is comfortable teaching classical piano (RCM), jazz improvisation, and music theory.

Katrina Ying est pianiste, compositrice et éducatrice. Grâce à ses compétences diverses en musique classique, en pop, et jazz, Katrina a présenté avec succès ses compositions originales à travers la ville. Lorsqu’elle ne se produit pas en concert, Katrina accompagne des solistes lors d’examens et d’auditions. Elle chante également dans la chorale de l’Association Kokopelli.

Katrina étudie présentement à l’Université MacEwan en vue d’obtenir un baccalauréat en musique avec une majeure en composition. Après l’obtention de son diplôme, Katrina espère poursuivre ses études et obtenir une maîtrise en musique.

Katrina donne des cours particuliers à l’école Resonate Music, là ou elle enseigne le piano classique, le jazz, l’improvisation et la théorie musicale.

Karina Fariña is a pianist with attentiveness to subtle details. When playing pieces by some of her favourite composers (Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Beethoven and Debussy, for example) she interprets their message with care in order to appreciate their linguistic nuances.

Under the mentorship of the late Vera Shean, Karina was awarded honours in the Grade 10 Royal Conservatory Performance Exam. Currently, she anticipates completing her ARCT in pedagogy and graduating from Grant Macewan's Music Program with a degree in Composition.

Brendan McGrath is an emerging pianist and composer from Edmonton, Alberta. Recently McGrath completed his undergraduate degree in jazz piano performance at MacEwan University, and has been spending the past while teaching, composing, and performing (and of course, practicing).

McGrath has spent his time studying with fine musicians such as Jerrold Dubyk, Joel Gray, Jim Lewis, Emilio De Mercato, Tom Van Seters, and Chris Andrew. Always a student first, McGrath continues to study the piano in private, constantly improving and pushing himself as a player and writer.

McGrath has a keen interest in all musics, from the great fugue writing of J.S. Bach to the great songwriting of Paul Westerberg of the Replacements, to the freeform improvisation of Painkiller, McGrath hopes to incorporate a little bit of everything into what he does, so he can help define what it means to play Canadian jazz, in an effort to distinguish what we do as Canadians from the New York or Scandinavian scenes.

Brendan McGrath est un pianiste et compositeur émergent d’Edmonton. Récemment, McGrath a complété son baccalauréat à l’Université MacEwan en performance jazz au piano, années pendant lesquelles il enseignait, composait et performait (et pratiquait) également.

McGrath a passé ses études avec des musiciens tels que Jerrold Dubyk, Joel Gray, Jim Lewis, Emilio De Mercato, Tom Van Seters et Chris Andrew. Même si son statut d’étudiant passe toujours en premier, McGrath continue d’étudier le piano, s’améliorant toujours et se dépassant en tant que joueur et en tant qu’auteur.

McGrath a un intérêt pour la musique sous toutes ses formes, de la grande écriture de fugue de J.S. Bach à l’écriture de Paul Westerberd du groupe The Replacements, en passant par la liberté d’improvisation de Painkiller.
