First Gen is a jazz-influenced hip-hop ensemble led by Filipino rapper and multi-instrumentalist Gr8skawt (Scott Snider). Featuring a rotating collective of diverse musicians, many of whom are first-generation immigrants of Asian descent, the group has been a dynamic presence on Edmonton stages for the past five years. Blending live instrumentation, improvisation, and sharp lyricism with influences from jazz, funk, soul, and hip-hop, First Gen creates an energetic and distinctive sound grounded in collaboration, cultural identity, and musical exploration.

Celtic Frolic

Featuring Dan Staples, Kris Gallibois, Logan Gray, and Jerome Cranston, Celtic Frolic combines the sounds of flute, fiddle, mandolin, Irish bouzouki, guitar, and even spoons to create an authentic and engaging performance. From driving jigs and reels to heartfelt ballads and well-loved traditional sing-alongs, the band's music celebrates the stories, history, and joy at the heart of Celtic folk traditions. Jeremiah McDade is a Juno Award winning saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger. Jeremiah graduated with high distinction from McGill University’s Jazz Performance program and received a distinguished alumni award from MacEwan University. He frequently tours throughout North America and Europe with his group, The McDades, as well as collaborating and recording with many different artists. As a side man, Jeremiah has performed on five Juno- nominated recordings, amongst dozens of others, as well as performing on multiple film scores. Jeremiah was a featured soloist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in 2012, 2014 and 2016 and he performs regularly with big bands in Alberta including the Edmonton Jazz Orchestra and the Calgary Creative Arts Ensemble. Jeremiah teaches saxophone, violin, and wind instruments from around the world privately and as a sessional instructor at MacEwan University.

The Ednova Quartet brings together four friends whose musical journeys have spanned continents and cultures, now united in Edmonton. They also perform together in the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra, bringing the depth, precision, and poise of their training to every performance. Grounded in the richness of their classical artistry, the ensemble moves freely between jazz, folk, tango, pop, blues, and contemporary works alongside chamber repertoire. Each performance is energized by a sense of musical possibility that makes the music feel immediate and alive. At the heart of Ednova Quartet is friendship and curiosity. Their collaboration unfolds through shared energy, spirited exploration, and a belief that music resonates most when it surprises and connects.

Farhad is an Edmonton-based composer and santur (Persian dulcimer) player, originally from Iran. His 2017 debut album “Sleeping in Sorrow” was shortlisted for the Edmonton Music Prize in 2017, along with nominations for World Artist of the Year at the 2018 Western Canadian Music Awards and World Music Recording of the Year at the 2018 Edmonton Music Awards. Rooted in Iranian classical music, Farhad expands the genre merging new textures of percussion with Western cello, violin, and vocal to create a modern mélange of East and West. In 2025, he received a Canada Council grant to record his third album, “The Leopards Who Have Run with Me”, based on a Persian book of short stories under the same title, in which the ensemble engages in a musical story-telling experience written for santur, string quartet, and percussion. The album contains about an hour and a half of original music and is set to be released in 2026. Some of these pieces have premiered at the Pacific Contact 2025 and the Mundial Montreal 2025 showcases with great reception.
