Party on the Street & Aurora Lantern Parade

Before kicking off the Aurora Lantern Parade, Klusterfunk will launch the party and get you groovin’! Join the lantern parade, performers and festival-goers as we dance, sing, drum and laugh together. Follow the light to My Son the Hurricane, as they kickoff the festival with their unique of mix New Orleans style grooves with funk, jazz and hip hop on the Avenue Central Stage.
Forgot your lantern? Create one with your friends and family at the Nina Haggerty Centre for the Arts (9225 – 118 Ave).
Open 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm. Or become an audience member as the street gets it's rhythm and awakens.

Taking to the street, Chelsea hosts a Reparation Station to sew, patch and darn any clothing items that need repair. Visit with your own items to learn a skill or request the artist's mending service. Pay What You Will.
Chelsea Boos works as n multidisciplinary artist, designer, researcher, administrator, and curator. As a settler on Treaty 6, she is grateful to call amiskwaciwâskahikan (Beaver Hills House) home and acknowledges the First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples who populated "Edmonton" for millennia. She graduated from the University of Alberta in 2006 with a Bachelor of Design.

Mai created BananaGum in 2018 when Mai Art Expressions grew in popularity in the face and body art industry. Originally from South Korea, Mai has been painting murals and doing face painting in Alberta for about 9 years. Mai is excited to provide fun and creative designs through herself and her team!

Make sure to catch this poi spinning duo! Not sure what “poi” is? Well, it is a performance art that involves swinging tethered weights through a variety of rhythmic and geometric patterns.
Come one, come all to witness the magnificent orbiting lights! The Alien Freak Show Duo, MystiCait & Miss Malo, will dazzle you with their hypnotic poi dance creating otherworldly illusions and light shows so lit that they send signals across the galaxy.

Spandy & Mandi will have you jumping for joy! With a mixture dance, hula-hoops, juggling and vibrant outfits, Spandy & Mandi are sure to get any party started! Their ultimate goal is to spread happiness across the globe. You may have seen Spandy Andy on So You Think You Can Dance Canada or read Mandi's book in your local library. Regardless, their performance is guaranteed to have you grinning from ear to ear.
The Trollsons are a family of comedic trolls from the Canadian forest! They mingle with the humans, chat, tell jokes, sing songs, dance, play music, matchmake, and generally cause mischief and merriment. They create forest magic wherever they go.

Lion Dance is an important part of Chinese culture and tradition. In the past, Lion Dance was only seen during Chinese New Year and at some business’ grand openings. Today, Lion Dance is a common sight at weddings, anniversaries, parades, and many other functions and events. The lion's blessings are believed to bring happiness, longevity, and good luck.
